abs + diaphragm

This course covers anatomy, biomechanics and practical application of exercises for the abdominals and thoracic diaphragm. Over 100 exercises and variations will be learned that can be used for strength and conditioning or rehabilitation in relation to the spine, lumbo-pelvic dysfunction, abdominal wall separations, hernias and digestive disorders.

The abdominal muscles are segmentally innervated and distributed and can therefore be segmentally trained.

The thoracic diaphragm is a very important muscle that is largely ignored in most strength training programs and is therefore unfortunately rarely trained.

Students will work together in small groups to determine the appropriate exercise to get specific to each muscle and muscle region.

The theory portion of the course will take place virtually in a 6 hour lecture where we will watch a video of Guy Voyer, DO teaching the anatomy and theory for this course. Sarah will be present to answer any questions! Students will have access to the on demand video to review and watch separately of the virtual session. The practical portion of the course will be covered over 2 days in person in Berlin.

The abdominals include : rectus abdominis, external oblique, internal oblique and pyramidalis. The TVA (transverse abdominis) is covered in its own separate course entirely!
